Rooted in the West Coast
My connection to nature began in a rural village along the rugged West Coast of Ireland. Long before I considered a career in floristry, I was surrounded by the wild beauty of sea pinks, crocosmia, and yellow flag Iris. My earliest memories are of helping my Grandmother tend her roses—feeding them with tea bags and watching the resilient fuchsia bushes weather the storms rolling off the Atlantic.
Refining the Craft in London
While my university years were spent studying film and television, my path eventually led me to London and the bustling environment of Scarlet and Violet. It was here, in a “beehive” of creativity, that I fell in love with the artistry of seasonal floristry. I gravitated toward event design, installing bespoke arrangements for fashion brands and restaurants across the city. Whether it was designing bar flowers that popped against a specific wall colour or using crabapples and blackberries to reflect a restaurant’s menu, I learned that floral design is an intentional art form that must complement its surroundings.
An Ethical Perspective As my passion grew, so did my commitment to environmental stewardship. Moving back to Ireland in 2019, I sought to build deeper connections with local growers, prioritising sustainability in an industry I love. This drive led me to launch a branch of Bread and Roses in Dublin in 2023—a program focused on the therapeutic and empowering benefits of floristry for women facing social challenges.
The Studio Today In 2024, I returned to my home in Clare to establish my own studio. Today, based in Ennistymon, my work is a reflection of that journey: modern, intentional design rooted in sustainable practices and the untamed beauty of the Irish landscape.
